General description
Octocrylene is a commercially used UVB filter, termed as an environmental pollutant because of its stability, lipophilic nature, and resistance to sunlight degradation.[1] It is employed as an ingredient in water resistant sunscreen products and high SPF formulations.[2] This substance is listed on the positive list of the EU regulation 10/2011 for plastics intended to come into contact with food. Application Octocrylene may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in the following: - Sunscreen formulations using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) technique.[1] - Marine mammals using ultra high-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC).[3] - Solid lipid nanoparticle systems using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) technique.[2] |
