DESCRIPTION
General description
Thioacetamide is a thiocarbonyl compound. It undergoes deuterium exchange reaction with D2O to afford N-dideuterated thioacetamide. Infrared spectral investigations of thioacetamide and its deuterated derivative (N-dideuterated thioacetamide) have been reported.[1]
Application
Thioacetamide may be used as a source of sulfur required for the synthesis of CdS nanoparticles in PVA (poly (vinyl alcohol)) solutions.[2] It may be used in the preparation of sulfur precursor stock solution, which was required during the synthesis of CdS quantum dots in PVA-COOH (carboxylic acid functionalized poly(vinyl alcohol)) and EPC (Enzyme-Polymer Conjugate) solutions.[3] Thioacetamide may be used in the preparation of Sb(TA)2Cl3, a precursor for oxide-free stibnite.[4] The addition of TA during the synthesis of visible-light activated titanium dioxide photocatalysts led to an increase in its photocatalytic activity.[5]
