DESCRIPTION
General description
Ferredoxin I (Fd I) from Spinacia oleracea comprises 97 amino acid and is an iron sulfur cluster (2Fe-2S). It is synthesized in the chloroplast. The structure of Fd I has conserved active site.[1]
Application
Ferredoxin from Spinacia oleracea (spinach) has been used: as a substrate for spinach ferredoxin reductase[2], for reconstitution with chlorophyll-A for scanning electron microscope (SEM) dispersive X-ray analyzer (EDX) integrated analysis[3], as a reductant in adenylylsulfate (APS) reductase activity of P. aeruginosa[4]
Biochem/physiol
Actions Ferredoxin is important in the electron transfer cascade required for this nitrogen assimilation.[1] It has been used in studies of assimilation of inorganic nitrogen from nitrite or nitrate in the absence of ammonium.[5] Ferredoxins are iron-containing proteins that serve as electron-transfer catalysts in photosynthesis and nitrogen fixation.
Packaging
Package sizes are based on ferredoxin content.
